Aakash Shah, MD, MBA Mission Leader

Aakash is a practicing emergency physician and global health leader whose career spans frontline care, national policy, and humanitarian service. He has founded several nonprofits and programs to connect the uninsured to coverage, reduce gun violence, and tackle the overdose crisis. From 2021–2022, he served as a White House Fellow and Senior Advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, with his work on overdose prevention and criminal justice reform was highlighted in a Presidential Executive Order and the State of the Union Address. A Rhodes Scholar with degrees from Harvard Medical School and Oxford University, Aakash has authored peer-reviewed publications, policy reports, and The Soul of a Patient. With Emergency Project, he has led missions caring for refugees in Jordan and was a keynote speaker at our first Global Health CME Conference and Retreat, where his vision helped bring the event to life.
